In 'C' can we develop any kind of game without "graphics.h"?

I have tried to install graphics.h in codeblock as well as Dev++ but I couldn't get it working. And I have worn out of trying to engross over this ancient graphics.h bother. If there are other ways to design games in C then can anyone tell me how?
